Sonoma Valley Arts Task Force

The Sonoma Valley Arts Task Force is an ad hoc organization, formed in early March 2020, shortly after the COVID-19 Shelter-In-Place order began. Cathy Capriola, Sonoma’s City Manager, reached out to Linda Keaton, Executive Director of Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, with an idea of creating some kind of committee to help lift spirits as City storefronts closed and the community sheltered at home.

Since March, 25 nonprofit organizations committed to building community through the power of creativity worked together to launch the Heart of Sonoma initiative and Summer Arts Stroll to fulfill its mission to keep the community inspired and connected through creating and sharing art during the COVID-19 pandemic. This unprecedented effort has not only succeeded in bringing art to the community but has also allowed team members to share ideas and strategies on how organizations can continue to work together in the future.
