City Council Adopts the 2022 California Building Standards Code with Amendments – Becomes Effective on January 1, 2023

At their meeting on November 2, 2022, the Sonoma City Council adopted an ordinance amending and adopting the 2022 California Building Standards Code.  The California Building Standards Code is made up of 12 parts containing various construction codes consisting of building, residential, plumbing, mechanical, electrical energy, fire, historical, existing buildings and green building regulations and standards.

The City of Sonoma typically adopts amendments to many of the codes to revise administrative provisions and address local needs based on local climatic, geological or topographical conditions.  The 2022 California Building Standards Code can be reviewed online at  Codes (ca.gov).  The  City of Sonoma ordinance amending and adopting the 2022 California Building Standards Code can be viewed here:  Ordinance 13 2022
