The City of Sonoma’s AMI project to replace all water meters is moving forward, and the first water meter replacements will start in early June. Customers will receive a postcard about 2-3 weeks before the planned meter replacement. The postcards will be mailed to the address where the meter is located. Customers do not need to be present for the meter replacement. The work will take about 30 minutes and water service may be interrupted for up to 15 minutes.

If the water system is in use at the time of replacement the Contractor, Concord Utility Services, will try to notify the occupants before water flow is interrupted. To assist with the water meter replacement, please ensure that the water meter box is accessible and not blocked or covered by vegetation or landscaping. Water meters sized 1 inch or smaller are scheduled to be replaced from June to August, with larger water meters to be replaced in August and September.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the City of Sonoma Public Works office at 707-938-3332.
