March 10th Alcalde Reception to Continue with Recommended Precautions

Posted on March 9, 2020

We have received several inquiries regarding the Alcalde Reception honoring Simon & Kimberly Blattner, and if it would be held as scheduled based on the evolving Coronavirus situation.

As of March 9, 2020, there are three cases of coronavirus in Sonoma County. One confirmed positive patient with coronavirus was transferred to a Sonoma County hospital from Travis Air Force Base in Solano County and two cases in residents with recent international travel on the Grand Princess (Princess Cruises) to Mexico. At this time, no community transmissions have been reported. The California Department of Public Health  (CDPH) has outlined guidelines for counties based on the specific cases and medical issues within each county jurisdiction. Based on these guidelines, the City will be holding the Alcalde Reception at Vintage House starting at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 10.

The City will be following guidance from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Guidelines for Large Gatherings at the event. These include (among others) providing hand sanitizer, tissues, and recommending that everyone celebrate without hugging or shaking hands. A complete list of the guidelines can be found on the CDPH website.

The CDC has also recommended that older adults and people with serious chronic medical conditions (heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease) avoid crowds and stay home as much as possible. In order to provide access to the Reception for those that choose not to attend in person, the presentation and the speaking portion of the event will be video recorded by KSVY and will be posted on the City’s YouTube channel. If you are not feeling well or decide to not attend as a precaution, you can still participate in the celebration by sending a note to the Blattners at City Hall, No 1 The Plaza, Sonoma CA 95476 or by email to CityHall@sonomacity.org.

Please contact Rebekah Barr, City Clerk, at 707-933-2216 or rbarr@sonomacity.org if you have further questions.
