All City Council, City Commission and Committee Meetings Returning to Virtual Format

Posted on January 7, 2022

Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19/Omicron variant and out of an abundance of caution, the City of Sonoma is taking steps to protect the health and safety of staff and our community.  On Thursday, January 6, 2022, the City Council voted to return to a fully virtual format for all City Council, Commission, and Committee meetings for the next 30 days.  The need to remain virtual will be considered at that time.

All meetings will be conducted pursuant to the provisions of GC Section 54953 (as amended by AB 361) which authorizes teleconferenced meetings under the Brown Act during certain proclaimed States of Emergency. The Governor of California proclaimed a State of Emergency related to COVID-19 on March 4, 2020.  All City Council, Commission, and Committee meetings will be held via teleconference only, and will not be physically open to the public.   All council members, commissioners, committee members, and staff will teleconference into the meeting by audio and/or video. The meeting will be conducted via Zoom Webinar.

The meetings will continue to be live-streamed on the City’s CivicWeb Portal and YouTube Channel. Those members of the public wishing to participate must do so remotely via Zoom. Directions on how to participate in virtual city meetings are included on each meeting agenda, along with the ZOOM Meeting ID.
