The City of Sonoma’s Cultural and Fine Arts Commission (CFAC) has officially opened the doors for submissions to the 2024 Student Creative Artist Award. Geared towards high school juniors and seniors within the Sonoma Valley Unified School District boundary, the award aims to recognize and support students displaying exceptional promise in visual, literary, or performing arts. The deadline for submission is set for April 5, 2024.

Interested student artists are encouraged to submit an online application. The submission should include samples of their finest work and a 200-500 word “Artist Statement,” describing the role of art in their life and outlining their plans for artistic development. The submission deadline is April 5th, 2024, and the online entry form is accessible on the City’s website.

Notification of finalists will be sent out by April 15, 2024, and those selected must be available for an in-person interview with CFAC commissioners during their special meeting on April 25, 2024. Successful candidates will be eligible for cash awards of up to $2,000, aimed at fostering their artistic abilities, education, or career.
