The City of Sonoma has created a Generator Fact Sheet that summarizes the regulations and requirements for the installation of backup generators in the City of Sonoma. As a result of the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events, the City has seen an increase in requests for information about planning standards and building permit requirements associated with backup generators. This fact sheet is intended to summarize those requirements as well as provide information on requirements for other jurisdictions such as the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD).
