Description: Named after Ernest Maynard “Ernie” Smith, a pioneer in Bay Area sports announcing from the mid-1920s to the 1950s, is it any wonder that Ernie Smith Community Park is filled with sports amenities?

There is a grassy athletic field with a baseball diamond, an accessible play structure for the kids and an asphalt basketball court that’s popular with people of all ages.

An accessible, paved, flat 1/2-mile trail passes by the playground, sports field and seasonal wetland that attracts a variety of wildlife, including egrets, hawks, herons and, sometimes nesting mallards. Picnic tables and a wildlife viewing platform are located along the trail.

While leashed dogs are welcome throughout the park, a fenced dog park gives dogs a chance to romp off-leash.

The park is open from sunrise to sunset. Leashed dogs are welcome and dogs can be off-leash in the fenced dog park. Parking is free.
