Description: Sonoma Ecology Center (SEC) is a 30-year-old environmental nonprofit serving Sonoma Valley and the North Bay. We work with our community in a variety of ways to make Sonoma Valley more thriving and sustainable. Research, education, restoration, and preservation are among the many things we do. We work on behalf of Sonoma Valley’s people, wildlife, and environment. Our mission is to work with our community to identify and lead actions that achieve and sustain ecological health in Sonoma Valley and we envision a future where people, land, water, and wildlife thrive.

SEC assists the City of Sonoma with natural resource and trail management at the Montini Open Space Preserve. SEC staff and volunteers work with the City to improve trails, assess and remove or prune hazard trees, restore areas burned in wildfires, and reduce wildfire hazards. The Preserve offers visitors an opportunity for hikes surrounded by oak woodlands and grasslands, with views of San Pablo Bay and the Sonoma Mountains. Wildflowers are abundant in spring.
