Annual Salary Range: $119,682.47 – $145,474.79 DOE

The City of Sonoma is looking for a highly qualified, energetic, and forward-thinking professional to serve as our next Public Works Operations Manager. This key leadership role is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the operations of the City’s Water and Streets Divisions, as well as the maintenance of City-owned buildings and facilities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading and managing the City’s largest team of public works staff
  • Developing and implementing division goals, policies, and procedures
  • Overseeing safety and training programs
  • Managing the Public Works work order system
  • Supporting Capital Improvement Program planning and project delivery
  • Managing smaller-scale maintenance projects from concept to completion
  • Preparing and administering budgets
  • Assisting with overall Public Works Department operations and planning

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with excellent communication and organizational skills. They should have experience in public works operations and maintenance, team leadership, and project management.

Education & Experience:

Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in maintenance technology, public administration, or a related field is typically required. A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will also be considered.
