A prescribed burn is planned on approximately 20 acres of the Montini Open Space Preserve during the week of June 23, 2025, as part of a joint effort by the Sonoma Valley Fire District, Sonoma Ecology Center, CAL FIRE, Sonoma Resource Conservation District, and the City of Sonoma. The operation will occur on one day only and last approximately half a day, depending on weather and site conditions.
This carefully planned burn will reduce wildfire risk in a Very High Fire Severity Zone bordering Sonoma and will help restore native grasslands, manage invasive species, and support healthy ecosystems.
