
North Bay Zero Waste Week returns October 11–18, 2025 with free and low-cost events across Sonoma, Marin, and Napa counties. The week is all about learning new skills, building community, and creating healthy, low-waste habits that support our environment.
Here in Sonoma, residents can join in on several hands-on workshops and activities hosted at the Sonoma Community Center:

Dyeing with Kitchen Scraps – October 11, 3–5:30 p.m.
Learn simple natural dyeing techniques using everyday kitchen scraps, and take home unique samples. (Registration required – currently waitlist only) -
Compost Kraut: Fermentation as Food Waste Solution & Climate Action – October 15, 6–7:30 p.m.
Discover fermentation and food preservation methods that reduce waste and support sustainable eating, led by Golden State Pickle Works / Collective Cultures. (Registration required) -
Upcycled T-Shirt Braided Rug Workshop – October 16, 5:30–8:00 p.m.
Bring your old t-shirts and learn how to transform them into colorful braided rugs. (Registration required) -
PRINT LAB – DIY Upcycled Printed Patches – October 17, 5:30–8:00 p.m.
Get creative by turning fabric scraps into custom upcycled patches. (Registration required)

Tour Day at Napa Recycling and Composting Facility – October 18, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
See where City of Sonoma recyclables and organics are processed, with tours departing every 20 minutes. Registration required.
