Smoke from Nearby Controlled Burn Visible in the City of Sonoma

Audubon Canyon Ranch is conducting prescribed burning at Donnell Ranch in southern Sonoma Valley today Wednesday, July 19, 2023.* The 92-acre prescribed burn will begin in the morning and continue throughout the day, with firing operations ending in the afternoon. Fire crews will manage the burning process during the day and will patrol the area throughout the evening.
*The controlled burn is subject to change depending on conditions.

Prescribed fire managers from Audubon Canyon Ranch’s Fire Forward will lead the burn. Support will be provided by CAL FIRE, Schell-Vista Fire Protection District, Sonoma Valley Fire District, Petaluma Fire Department, and Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District.
92 acres of oak woodland and savannah are scheduled for treatment to reduce fuel loading and the occurrence of invasive grasses.
**Smoke and Traffic Advisory**
Controlled burns in southern Sonoma Valley will commence as early as 8:30 a.m. and conclude around 5 p.m.* Residents and travelers along Highway 121 in the Sonoma Raceway / Lakeville area may see or smell smoke in the air for up to 9 hours. This is a permitted controlled burn; do not call 911.
