23rd Annual Sonoma City Party
The City Party Returns to the Plaza August 1, 2019, 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
SONOMA, CA – The Sonoma City Council and City of Sonoma are delighted to present the 23rd Annual Sonoma City Party! A fun event to celebrate Sonoma, its citizens, businesses, and our local community. The event is free to attend and will be held at the Sonoma Plaza on Thursday, August 1, 2019, from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m.
Party goers are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, folding camp tables and chairs, picnic supplies, reusable water bottles, warm clothing, and dancing shoes! Complimentary bike valet by the Sonoma Bicycle Coalition, sponsored by Redwood Credit Union, will be located in the front of the City Hall, with the best access point from Napa Street.
FOOD: Plan in advance and order a sumptuous picnic direct from our local merchants or purchase delicious food provided by local non-profits onsite. Sausage sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, and a variety of cookies, cakes and pies will be available courtesy of the Soroptimists, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Sonoma Valley United Youth Soccer Association and the Native Sons of the Golden West Parlor #111.
BEVERAGES: Cold brew and wine will be poured in reusable stainless-steel cups by our local Native Sons of the Golden West and American Veterans (AMVETS). For party goers who bring reusable 2018 Sonoma City Party cups to the event, drinks will be $6.00 each. Those that don’t have a reusable Sonoma City Party cup, your first drink is $10.00 and includes a reusable cup to use at future events, $6.00 for each additional drink. All are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles; complimentary ice-cold water will be provided for hydration.
This year’s brews and wines have been generously donated by: Albini Family Vineyards; Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards; Highway 12 Vineyards & Winery; Kunde Family Winery; Lagunitas Brewing Company; WALT Wines; and Wellington Cellars. Proceeds will go directly to the Native Sons of the Golden West and AMVETS.
There will be LIVE MUSIC from local Sonoma and Bay Area bands playing a selection of Reggae/Ska/Rock and Roll/Pop/Disco including:
- Sonoma’s Free Spirits Gospel Choir conducted by Sonoma’s 2019 Treasure Artist Cynthia Tarr.
- Dan Martin and the Noma Rocksteady Band capture a wonderfully tight and soulful brand of traditional ska, rocksteady and old school reggae.
- Flaming O’s feature world-class vocalists and players who have performed, toured and recorded with the likes of Sammy Hagar, Eddie Money, Night Ranger, Poison, Brian Setzer, and many others. Playing music, the way their heroes played music, which is from the gut, a little less processed, and a little more seat-of-the-pants, a little more exciting, crazy, and rock and roll. Bring your dance grooves and rock out to hits of the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and Today.
- Funk Fatale Bandwill light up the night with a bit of funk, some disco, a smatter of pop and sultry soul mashed up to create funkalicious, fresh dance tunes.
RULES: No unattended setup prior to 3pm on Thursday August 1, 2019. Items left unattended will be removed. No roping off or barricading of sections in the Plaza. Those who do this will be asked to take it down immediately.
ABSOLUTELY NO Household furniture (this includes dining tables, sofas and chairs), barbecues of any kind, candles, tents or canopies. Also, please leave your dogs at home, as there are no pets allowed in the park.
