Sonoma Valley Citizens Academy Accepting Applications

Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Citizens AcademyThe Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and the Sonoma Police Department are accepting applications for the Spring session of the Sonoma Valley Law Enforcement Citizen’s Academy.

The seven week series of classes are scheduled from April 4, 2018 through May 16, 2018 and will meet Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Sonoma Police Department located at 175 First Street West, Sonoma CA 95476, with one full day training in Santa Rosa on May 12, 2018.

The Sonoma Valley Law Enforcement Citizen’s Academy will provide citizens with an inside look at local law enforcement and provide an overview of office policies and procedures.  During the academy, students will learn about:

  • Sonoma Valley’s Law Enforcement Model
  • Hiring and Training
  • Patrol and Specialized Units
  • Investigative Units
  • Critical Incidents and Use of Force
  • Overview of Sonoma County Jail
  • Community Engagement
  • K-9, Helicopter…and much more!

Participants will have a greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement’s role in the community through the education provided through the Sonoma Valley Law Enforcement Citizen’s Academy.

Download the application now, or pick one up at the Sonoma Police Department Office.  Completed applications can be delivered by mail or in person to the Sonoma Police Department at 175 First Street West, Sonoma, CA 95476.
