Tree Work at Depot Park & Hughes Field – Temporary Area Closures

Posted on September 4, 2025

Notice: Tree work at Depot Park & Hughes Field, temporary closures up to 4 days starting September 8th.

Notice of Tree Removal & Maintenance

The County of Sonoma will be removing several trees on County property at Hughes Field (Little League baseball fields on 1st St East). In coordination with this work, a small number of trees on adjacent City of Sonoma property near Depot Park will also be addressed.

Out of an abundance of caution, portions of Depot Park will be temporarily closed during active work, including the volleyball court, playground, and permanent restrooms. Portable restrooms (porta potties) will be available for public use onsite.

Project Details

  • Start Date: 09/08/2025
  • Work Hours: Approximately 8am – 4pm
  • Duration: Estimated four working days, weather and site conditions permitting
  • Locations:
  • Hughes Field (County of Sonoma): Little League fields, 1st St East
  • Depot Park (City of Sonoma): Select areas adjacent to Hughes Field

What to Expect

  • Temporary closures of the volleyball court, playground, and Depot Park restrooms
  • Portable restrooms available during closures
  • Intermittent pathway or area closures near work zones for public safety
  • Presence of tree crews, equipment, trucks, and brief noise impacts
  • Temporary traffic control and parking impacts may occur near 1st St East and the Depot Park lot
  • Please follow all posted signs and instructions from onsite personnel

While the work requires removal of certain trees for safety reasons, new, more suitable trees will be planted to replace those removed, ensuring the long-term health and beauty of the park and field area.

Your safety is our top priority, and we appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation while this important work is completed.
