Free Emergency Preparedness Class for Kids
STEP (Student Tools for Emergency Planning) is a fun and educational program that can help all students learn simple ways to prepare for disasters. It enables young people to assist their families and loved ones in getting ready for emergencies.
This free, 2-hour workshop for youth ages 9-12 being held in room 200 at the Sonoma Community Center, teaches emergency preparedness using FEMA’s STEP. Our trainers provide instruction in English or Spanish. Students will receive emergency backpacks, with items like a Lifestraw, universal charger, first aid kit, and more. The STEP curriculum offers a blueprint for building community engagement and partnerships to make youth resilience a joint effort.
This free 2-hour workshop teaches:

Parents are welcome to be present, but will observe and not participate.
