23rd Annual Sonoma City Party August 1, 2019

The Sonoma City Council and the City of Sonoma are delighted to present the 23rd Annual Sonoma City Party. The City of Sonoma hosts this community party to bring our local community together for fun, festivities and to celebrate our special town. A long-standing tradition, this unique event celebrates the rich history of Sonoma, its residents, businesses and non-profits. The event is free to attend and will be held at the Sonoma Plaza on Thursday, August 1, 2019, 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

This Year’s Entertainment Includes:

  • Sonoma’s Free Spirits Gospel Choir is a community choir that sings under the direction of 2019 Sonoma Treasure Artist, Cynthia Tarr, Music Director at the Sonoma Community Center. Cynthia has been a professional singer and songwriter for more than twenty years. She is an energetic and generous spirit with a passion for singing and teaching. Free Spirits sings traditional and not-so-traditional gospel music with no religious agendas in a laid back setting. We perform two concerts a year at the Sonoma Community Center plus eight free community service appearances at local elder care facilities. We have also performed at Share the Love, The City Party and The Muse.
  • Dan Martin and the Noma Rocksteady Band capture a wonderfully tight and soulful brand of traditional ska, rocksteady and old school reggae.
  • Flaming O’s feature world-class vocalists and players who have performed, toured and recorded with the likes of Sammy Hagar, Eddie Money, Night Ranger, Poison, Brian Setzer, and many others.  Playing music the way their heroes played music, which is from the gut, a little less processed, and a little more seat-of-the-pants, a little more exciting, crazy, and rock and roll. Bring your dance grooves and rock out to hits of the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and Today.
  • Funk Fatale Band will light up the night with a bit of funk, some disco, a smatter of pop and sultry soul mashed up to create funkalicious, fresh dance tunes.

How to Enjoy the Sonoma City Party

Bring along your picnic blankets, folding camp tables and chairs, picnic supplies, warm clothing, a flashlight, dancing shoes and you’re all set! Please note that vendors are no longer able to sell beverages in Single Use Plastic containers, this includes bottled water so be sure to bring your refillable water bottle. The Sonoma Valley Firefighters Association has generously donated two refilling stations to be onsite at the event.

This year’s Sonoma City Party is excited to announce the following non-profits will be serving food and beverages at the event: St. Andrews Presbyterian Church will be serving Hot Dogs and Sausage Sandwiches, the Soroptimist will be back again this year selling desserts and Altimira Garden Club will be selling Barbeque Turkey Legs.   Food and Beverage proceeds go back to serve our local community so be sure to purchase your food onsite. If you’re a non-profit wanting to participate in the 2019 event please email Lisa Janson.

The Native Sons of the Golden West will be pouring Lagunitus and Coors cold brew and AMVETS will be pouring a fine selection wine. Bring your 2018 reusable Sonoma City Party Cup to the event and receive your first pour of the night for $6.
