Current Status

The City of Sonoma is updating its Mobilehome Park Closure & Conversion Ordinance (Sonoma Municipal Code Chapter 9.82) to comply with recent state laws (AB 2782 and SB 610) and to review resident protections during proposed park closures or conversions.

Next Steps

  • December 3, 2025 Study Session:
    Council will review the proposed and provide direction for updating the ordinance.
  • Draft Ordinance Preparation:
    Incorporate state law requirements and Council feedback into a revised ordinance.
  • Public Hearing (Spring 2026):
    A draft ordinance will be brought forward for public review and input.
  • Final Adoption:
    After public hearing and Council deliberation, the final updated ordinance will be considered for adoption.

Background

At the November 5 study session, the City Council received an overview of:

  • Sonoma’s existing mobilehome park closure and conversion ordinance
  • Key requirements under AB 2782 and SB 610
  • Legal and procedural updates needed to bring the ordinance into compliance
  • Impacts on residents, including relocation, notification, and replacement housing considerations

The discussion focused on aligning local requirements with state law while continuing to protect residents from displacement and hardship.

The December 3 study session will continue this work, with staff returning to the Council to review potential ordinance amendments and policy direction.
