The Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Commission will review the 90% design plans for the Olsen Park Improvement Capital Improvement Project (CIP P-8) at its meeting on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 177 First Street West in Sonoma.
City staff and the project design team from LandCulture LLP will present the latest plans and cost estimate for the Olsen Park improvements. This will be the final proposed design review with the Commission before the project moves into the bidding phase, anticipated for spring 2026. The current adopted project budget is $574,632, which includes funding for construction, contingency, and construction management.
The 90% plans refine earlier concepts shared with the community and the Commission, including upgrades to the playground and sand play area, new shade structures and site furnishings, improved pathways and accessibility, and refreshed landscaping and irrigation throughout the park.
The December 10 PROS meeting will be held in person at the City Council Chambers and will also be broadcast on Channel 27 and live streamed on the City’s CivicWeb portal. Community members are encouraged to attend, follow the discussion, and provide input during public comment. Written comments may also be submitted in advance through the public comment form on the CivicWeb portal, where they will be added to the public correspondence folder for Commission review.
