Smoke may be visible in the City of Sonoma from the Pickett fire in Napa County near Calistoga. Public safety agencies are responding. There is no threat to the City of Sonoma at this time. Visit the CAL FIRE website for more information about the Pickett Fire.

Planning Commission

The Planning commission prepares, revises and implements the comprehensive long-term General Plan for the physical development of the City and surrounding areas. It conducts hearings and makes decisions and/or recommendations on a variety of land use applications.

The Planning Commission is comprised of seven voting members, and one non-voting youth member. Five of the members are directly appointed by a City Council Member and must be City residents. The remaining two are at-large and at least one must be a Sonoma Valley resident. See a current list of Planning Commission Members.

The commission meets at 6:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the City Council Chambers, 177 First Street West, Sonoma.    See upcoming meetings, agendas and minutes on our CivicWeb Portal.
