Start or Stop Water Service
The City of Sonoma now offers an online Water Service Request Form for customers who need to start or stop water service.

Start New Water Service
Customers requesting new water service must complete the online Water Service Request Form.
Deposits: New residential customers (including renters, agents, and lessees) are required to make a $150 deposit with the application.
- The deposit will be held for two years of service with no delinquencies, shutoffs, or returned checks.
- After two years without issues, the deposit will be credited directly to the account.
- If service is terminated before that time, the deposit will be applied to the final bill.
Processing Time: New service can normally be initiated within 24 hours of receipt of a completed form and deposit. Please note: We do not start water service on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays or Major Holidays.
Payment Options: The City of Sonoma accepts credit and debit card payments.
Stop/Terminate Water Service
Customers wishing to discontinue water service must submit a Water Service Request Form.
City staff will make every effort to terminate service on the requested date. Please note:
- We do not stop water service on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays or Major Holidays.
- Following disconnection, a final bill will be mailed to the forwarding address.
