Recreation & Community Services

Recreation & Community Services

The City of Sonoma’s Recreation & Community Services program provides opportunities for residents of all ages to learn, play, and connect. Through partnerships with local nonprofits and service providers, the City supports a wide range of recreational, cultural, and educational programs that enrich community life.

The program is guided in part by the Parks, Recreation & Open Space Commission, which advises the City Council on recreation policy and priorities.

Community Fund & Partner Providers

The City of Sonoma invests in local nonprofits through its Community Fund discretionary funding request program, awarding more than $71,000 in 2025 to support youth development, arts education, community events, senior programs, and other recreation and community services. These funds help sustain the City’s partner providers, who offer direct programming and services:

  • Boys & Girls Club of Sonoma Valley – Provides after-school and summer programs for youth that promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, and leadership development.
  • Sonoma Community Center – Offers classes, events, and cultural programming that foster creativity and community engagement for all ages.
  • Sonoma Ecology Center – Promotes environmental stewardship through education, research, and hands-on programs that connect people with nature.
  • Vintage House Sonoma – Provides programs, services, and activities that support independence, wellness, and community connection for older adults.
