The City of Sonoma Streets Division

Keeping Sonoma Moving Safely!  The Streets Division maintains the City’s streets, bridges, sidewalks, and right-of-way, and is supervised by the City's Streets Supervisor, Tommy Plume. The Division has 5 full-time employees, including the Supervisor.

The Streets Division maintains 33.8 miles of streets, 11 bridges, 40 miles of storm drainage piping, 3 miles of roadside ditches, and 485 catch basins.  Right-of-way code enforcement is a major responsibility that includes streets, sidewalks, drainage, trees, and signage.  This Division keeps the City right-of-way in a safe and functional condition for multi-modal circulation.

During special events (parades, Plaza events, emergencies), the Division crew provides barricades and other traffic control assistance.

Street Sweeping

Maintaining the quality of stormwater flowing into our creeks and bay is a primary function of the Streets Division. Their efforts prevent debris from clogging or passing through our storm drain system to the creeks and bay. The most visible component of this effort is our street sweeper, operated by the Public Works Department. See the Street Sweeping Map and Schedule.

You can help by minimizing the amount of debris on the streets and gutters. Please rake your leaves and place them in your yard waste container. Do not sweep or blow debris into the street or gutter.
